Amanda Berry is a survivor of kidnapping. She had disappeared since one night in Cleveland in 2003 at the age of sixteen. Berry was captured along with two other females by Ariel Castro. Bio and Disappearance
Amanda Berry was born on 1986 April 22. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He had found a job at the local Burger King but disappeared one night on his way home from work. On April 21, 2003, Amanda was last seen before she was 17 years old.
Amanda was listed as a missing person, with her mother Louwana Miller demanding further coverage of her daughter’s disappearance and dispelling any suspicions that Berry has fled. Unfortunately, Miller died in 2006 with her daughter still missing.
Escape
On May 6, 2013, he appeared on the steps of 2207 Seymour Avenue, crying for help. Angelo Cordero and Charles Ramsey approached to help her, and two men later gave conflicting accounts of their involvement and helped Amanda break down the door of the house. The 6-year-old went with Amanda.

Amanda Berry and DeJesus reunited with their families on May 8, 2013, and Berry’s sister Beth Serrano made a public statement thanking the well-wishers. Knight was brown on the floor. Later, a fund was established to provide services for three women who came to the house under the name, The Cleveland Courage Fund.
Castro Arrest and Death
Castro arrested 52 people, including the owner of the Seymour property, who had been drinking while Amanda was fleeing. In addition, Castro reportedly kept women locked up for a long time in a basement, that they rarely left the area and endured horrible treatment. Although, at the time of her arrest, Amanda had a daughter named Jocelyn. She was 6-year-old during the escape. Later, a paternal examination confirmed that Castro was Jocelyn’s father.
With his siblings arrested but not charged, Castro was accused of kidnapping Berry, DeJesus, and Knight and keeping them in custody in his Cleveland home. He was quoted in 329 cases, including 177 kidnappings, 139 rapes, and two offensive murders for forced abortions.
Castro pleads guilty to the kidnapping and rape of Amanda Berry, Knight, and DeJesus. In the hopes of avoiding the death penalty, Castro had filed a complaint. However, on August 1, Castro was sentenced to life imprisonment and 1,000 years without parole. Amanda did not attend the trial, but Knight, her victim, was present.
Berry’s sister, Beth Serrano explained how her sister doesn’t want to talk about the abuse and is focused on protecting her daughter. In 2013, on September 3, Castro was found dead in his cell. He had hung himself with a sheet.

While Knight pursued his course in the years following their release, Amanda Berry and Jesus came close to their shared temptation. In April 2015, they teamed up to publish Hope: A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland just before the saga was updated with the Lifetime film Cleveland Abduction. In addition, they received honorary diplomas together at John Marshall High School in late May.
